Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2004-05-25
Drums, bass, and…. Viola “configured for maximum damage to ear canals” (one sheet). Noisey instrumental rock, likened to Melvins, Lightning Bolt (and for me, Swans). Bass heavy, hard hitting Norwegian trio’s second record produced by Billy Anderson (Sleep, Melvins). Doomy at times, a result of the “wall of Ampegs” bass tone that would make Alex Kizys (sp?) of the original Swans proud.

1) head nodding huge bass rock builds for 4 minutes
2) upbeat rockin, slightly thrashy at times, overall a beautiful wash of heaviness
3) wow- mid/slow impending enormous bass tone a la early Swans
4) upbeat rock, twisted sublte dissonance and that ever present enormous bass tone
5) upbeat thrashiness, fast paces onslaught w/ great use of echo on viola
6) wow- huge hollow dissonance w/ moaning viola and building tones
7) folky, vocs by “octegenarian grandfather” of one of the bandmembers- doomy and gothy creepy
8) epic stormin intro turns harddriving rock
9) dreamier toned, almost Kranky’esque, dare I say Radiohead, with drone wash, pretty
