DJ Drank's Greatest Malt Liquor Hits
Malt Liquor themed Hip Hop. Please read the back of this collection for the full story, but briefly, back in the early 90s St. Ides malt liquor hired some of the finest hip hop talent to produce a series of 1 minute songs promoting their product. Turns out, a lot of those songs were actually quite good even though they are crass exploitation pushing a potentially harmful product on minors (that's part of what make's them fun). Highly recommended, I'd start with tracks 7, 9, 12 and 30 but most are tight.
1) King Tee raps over a sparse beat (uhh, Funky Drummer)
2) *Great spoken samples over down-tempo Meters loop
3) *Flowing over funk loop
4) Mid-tempo funky
5) Up-tempo bass loop
6) Party jam
7) **Ice Cube disrespecting women over Tramp guitar
8) *See track 7, but with a soul loop
9) **Yo-Yo steps up to represent the sisters
10) *Ice Cube with a special Christmas message
11) *Fuzzy Turtles hook
12) **The down side of Olde English 800
13) Light up tempo loop
14) *Grinding down-tempo
15) *Rakim over fuzzy guitar loop
16) More Rakim over Manzel and the Funky Drummer
17) *Yo-Yo again, female
18-19) EPMD
20) *Fun up-tempo and lisping rap
21) *Cube and Geto boys
22) *Geto boys adapting their hits to commerce
23-25) *Classic LBC style R&B hip hop.
28) Wu Tang ensemble effort
29) *Long spoken intro over keyboard
30) **(!) Can't sell liquor to kids? Why not sell a non-alcoholic product with a similar name and label (*wink*) FCC: Hidden track 20 seconds after end of track "Fuckin'" "Shit"
