Mix of abstract sound work and some avant-classical musicality. Tracks shift between crazy chamber music, fiercely improvised jazz, and semi-serious experimental vocals. Chaotic and frequently shrill – should appeal to anyone who’s into sound experiments.
The CD is an amalgam of five concerts, apparently strung together to form a single virtual performance.
- Fast clatter, into a quieter industrial sound palette
- Clattering, clunking, strange whistles. Nonmusical.
- Jungle percussion, a mid-fast rhythm. Dissolves into screechy chaos... is that a kazoo?
*- Classical chaos, starts quiet and gets intense
- Gentle voice and clashing, dissonant strings. Moves slowly.
- Quiet, breathy flute & trumpet
*- A slow, grand march backed by big dramatic piano chords. Dissonant. Ends with a crazy casbah dance.
*- Avant jazz piano attack; bass clarinet joins later
- Starts intense; becomes a series of sparse episodes. Intriguing but has lots of blank spaces
*- Dramatic violins, like a tense movie score. Starts with cascading shrillness.
- Mad swirling
*- Dark, eerie.
*- Crazy female vocals. Starts abstract; second half is a spirited cabaret tune
- Crackly voice samples
