Johnny Cash had married the Delgados. Pick up this damned CD and put it in a player already! Up tempo indie pop/folk/rock with some alt country influence (Johnny Cash is inspiration and a track name on this EP). Two men, two women combo from the Kingdom (Glasgow), but the real split in this album is not between genders but rather between the dark, brooding rhythm section, versus the ringing cheerful guitars/mandolin – that all works amazingly well. Moreover, the S&D's write infectiously catching pop tunes. This one of the most intelligent-fun CDs put in my stereo system this year! Play it! Hear it! Love it! Love the Cup!

I like 1, 2, 6. They really all work.

1. ** Upbeat rock pop number, ringing mandolin, dark rhythm section with march-like percussion contrasts well with the bright strumming, while male and female vox keep it neutral. An amazing fuckin' hit! **
2. * Lower key, female vox, menacing tense minimal backdrop, and more great rhythm guitar work. Excellent! *
3. Male vox lead, edgy bass/drum accompanied verse, more vox, louder in the raucous chorus.
4. Duet during the quieter verses, higher volume at the bridges and choruses, guitar goes almost goth. Cool.
5. Quiet acoustic opening with female vox. Picks up slowly and gradually, but still calmer than all other tracks.
6. * Steady drum/bass mid tempo beat with female vox, guitars/mandolin start ringing up, infectious wordless chorus, another winner! *
7. A duet straight out of the modern-day spaghetti western. Horse-riding, ringing rhythm guitars, percussion.
