Three compositions in 2 popular Indian ragas performed by vocalist Malini Rajurkar accompanied by musicians on the tabla and the harmonium. Rajurkar is an accomplished vocalist and the 3 compositions bring out different aspects of her strengths as a classical singer. As with all India archive music Cds, The liner notes are choc-a-bloc with technical information.
Track 1: Haunting and somber; slow tempo; long drawnout phrases express the pathos of a lover in waiting
Track 2: Fast tempo; repetitive and mesmerizing. Vocal pyrotechnics increase towards the end.
Track 3: Midtempo, devotional piece in the most famous Hindustani raga (bhairavi). Rajurkar's voice is a tour-de-force throughout the track.
