Behemoth - Demigod (Olympic/Century Media) Polish Death Metal from one of the veterans of the scene. Excellent playing, some nice Middle-Eastern scales, and a few crushing riffs. Overall, not something totally mindblowing everytime but hinting at something on that level in some places.
(((1))) Acoustic intro, slow doom then “ghoul out of the gate” death metal ‘ala Morbid Angel.
((((2)))) Medieval war horn, fucking amazing drumming, snarling vocals, killer breakdowns.
((((3)))) Catchy death metal? Somewhere around Death & Morbid Angel.
Extra points for the soloing & the galloping riffage.
(((4))) Awesome drum/riff interplay, march of the damned tempo...but lay off the pinch harmonics!
((((5)))) Total drum assault & OTT tempos. Bookending DM from early 90’s DM with the current age.
((((6)))) Straight-ahead, brutal & fast DM. The vocals are less derrivative here.
(((7))) Thick & thudding riffing & low-end.
(((((8))))) Wow! Everything is perfect - simple to the point death fuckin’ metal. Karl Sanders on solo #5.
(((9))) Intro that sound like Glen Benton of Deicide talking to his mom. The rest is not too different from what they did in #1 & #4.
((((10)))) Epic, sand-swept intro then straight groove with a few shifts
