Male vox, a variety of guitars. One mans songs and his ensemble performing them. They have an MTV unplugged aesthetic, feels acoustic though plenty of amplification in the mix. I like the music. Good sense of melody, low key without being overly depressed.
1.menacing intro- barker lists maladies. Flows into next track
+2.violin, handheld percussion, strummed acoustic guitar, simple and driving
+3.bluesy guitar, swampy vocals, understated electric piano
4.quiet guitar intro, then violin and electric bass come in, gets uplifting as more parts added/as it gets louder, then quiets down again (long outtro)
5.interlude- snake oil salesman barks over slow countrified jam
+6.slow. Guitar plucking, sad singing, banjo
+7.slower! pretty. Sings with feeling.Mostly guitar picking,some violin,bass
+8.bongos, bass and banjo. Hey wait it’s good! mid-slow, melodic self-harmonized male vox, I like the chorus, reminds me of Beck.
9.another bit of snake-oil salesmanship. Countrified jam upbeat.
+10.falsetto, slide guitar, mid-slow. Bluesy
11.autoharp? and unadorned vocal. Rest of band joins in. plodding
12.midtempo. banjo, bongo
13.interlude, more maladies
14.Pretty,folky. Plucked high-pitched nylon stringed guitar? Wants love!
15.Quiet intro, just voice and low bass, then guitar, violin join. Gets angry.
16.spooky saw intro, then 3/4 time acoustic guitar & vocal. Cathartic. Organ, drums join in.
