Cofounder of Pyschedelia and literal madman
of the 13th Floor Elevators has sofar career documented. Mostly rock and 60s pop with
some Byrds/Dylan folk. Twangy voiced songs
of demons and devils pervade with excellent bands.
Plenty of reverb and jug-trippiness on the 13th
stuff and Aliens are tight 80s rock. Very personal
stuff here with a big whiff of the loony bin.
Philosophical content. Slip inside this house of
madness and dig it!
1) Animals/Velvet Pop, groove - pre-13th
2)* hot, fantastic jug. Harp solo
3) psychedelic lyrics
4)* guitar solo, energetic
5)* funny start, madness lyrics in surf rock
6) love song with soft back vox
7)**** total epic psych journey - philosophy -jug
8) sweet pop balld like #1
9) silly rhymes, incoherent musically
10) voice in his head w/ chimes of freedom, harp break
11)* mystical toe tapper 6m
-------- end 13th floor elevators ----------
12) acoustic letter, Dylanesque harp
13)* raw groove of incomprehensibility w/Doug Sahm
14) sappy love song
15) rocknroll travel song with psych-autoharp
16) dual leads with language
17) pop repetition
18)* acoustic dejavu w/dingdingdingdoowah
19)* hot rocker, cool descending chords
20) He's real evil
21) the Stones in the asylum - fun
22) haunted maniac, nice rockin
------ CD2 -------------------------------
1)* good time rockin 'scary' swamp words
2) horror movie
3) hammers at you, decent guitar solo
4)* punky simplicity about life inside loonybin
5) Lucifer rocks out
6) rushing lyrics, tom toms
7) folky paean, messy
