THANKSGIVING • THE “IN THE WORLD” (marriage records)
Thanksgiving is one man. Adrian Orange who resides up in Portland. His music resembles the pure beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Simple acoustic guitar and vocals done in the style and likeness of Phil Elvrum/ The Microphones/ Mount Eerie who Adriane is known to hang with. Thanksgiving’s music is akin to the K Records & Know-Yr-Own scenes of Olympia and Anacortes but yet he forges his own voice which really shines as something special. His vocal style resembles that of Smog’s Bill Callihan’s if Bill was to get lost on the west coast for a couple of years. Tender songs all alittle left of center, which is music to my ears -tHE bAWD oF eUPHONy
1*** (3:35) Simple acoustic guitar with cool hummed back-up vocals. Simple and beautiful.
2** (2:15) Weird rumbling percussion, strummed acoustic guitar and doubled vocals. Cool!
3*** (3:14) Microphones-esque vocal stacking and guitar crescendos. Very odd, I love it!
4*** (2:42) My favorite track. Simple and sad with a great vocal melody.
5** (9:43) 20 seconds of silence then a tender ballad with lots of stops and swells.
6** (2:30) Outside sounds and multi-guitar layers. Very cool and moody
