V/A Louder than Hell (Six Weeks)
A great, short, collection of old and new thrash, crossover and hardcore bands. This combines some bands from different times. The Accused and Hirax were 80s crossover thrash bands but these are new songs, Toxic Narcotic was a 90s hardcore band and Municipal Waste and Voetsek are current thrash revival, hardcore, and crossover bands. Most of this is very fast, has a punk hardcore influence, and sits right in between the metal and hardcore boundary.
1. Thrash metal from one of the first really fast bands I ever heard. High, understandable vocals, guitar solos and lots of memories of 80s thrash bands.
2. Wow. I didn’t know the Accused got back together. The good news is the singer, with his extremely unique voice and vocal delivery are still part of the band. Speedy, thrash crossover with group vocals for the chorus. Hard to believe this band released a 7” back in 1981. They still sound the same.
**3. Great raw fast hardcore all about youth gun culture. “Get the gun, get the gun, shoot shoot shoot”
**4. Sounding even more like middle-era DRI. Great thrash crossover with understandable vocals. Lots of fast then slow parts.
**5. Local fast hardcore. This track actually has a metal intro with lots of guitar tapping into great speedy hardcore with great female vocals.
All tracks are great! -mph
