Abstract improv led by Dunmall's sax, with occasional backing from hurdy-gurdy, of all things. Small group stuff -- just duets and trios.
Dunmall switches to border bagpipes on two tracks for a novel sound that's surprisingly sax-like. Dunmall burns it up on 2 and 3 but stays relatively restrained on the other tracks. Nice stuff.
1- Bagpipe/hurdy-gurdy duet! Unique sound, best in small doses. Opens in drony, wheezy fashion. Builds to a hazy melody, then expansive sax-like improv. Quiet second half.
2- The only track with tenor sax. A burly sound coupled with fast drums.
3- Sax + drums, a healthy workout
4- Quiet fluttering sax. At halfway point, switches to squirrelly bagpipe attack (very sax-like) and ends with an ominous drone
5- Trio: sax, drums, hurdy-gurdy. The latter starts out subtly quiet and perks up later for a surreal kind of background.
