Canadian metal/hardcore somewhere between death/thrash, metalcore, and the Swedish death metal sounds. Most of this is mid-paced and thrash-y with somewhat generic alternative picking riffs and annoying pinch harmonics. This band is the band of ex-Kittie guitarist Jeff Phillips and the bass player is Tom Araya’s (Slayer) brother. Think Lamb of God or Heaven Shall Burn (vocals) but not as good.
**1. Starts with standard melodic Swedish death metal sounds which change into a thrash song. There is an odd groove in the middle of the song.
2. Vocals are a bit more understandable. Fairly standard thrash-y sound. The slow parts with guitar pinch harmonics are annoying.
3. Right out of the Lamb of God book of guitar sounds. Thrash-y. Ends with guitar solo.
4. Faster, head nodding, thrasher with fairly simple guitar riffs. The track slows down, has a guitar solo, and a terrible attempt at actually singing.
5. Stupid song title, even worse lyrics, and lots of open E (or whatever there are tuned down to).
**6. Some nice changes in speed which happen often. Throw in a guitar solo and keep the track shorter and this is one of the better songs on the disc.
7. A bit slower. A bit more interesting riffs.
8. Galloping riff into more of a Swedish DM sound.
9. The longest track. This track has a more obvious breakdown, which is simple and melodic, a guitar solo, and pretty much all their other tricks all on one track.
So-So stuff -mph
