Herrera, Nachito: Bembé en Mi Casa (FSMusic)
Reviewed by: Beezher 09-05-2005
Cuban jazz interestingly based in Minneapolis,
Minnesota, that tears down the joint with hard hitting
piano and horn instrumentation. Ignacio “Nachito”
Herrera composes, arranges, leads the band and plays
the piano to bangs out a fun and thickly layered Latin
jazz album for all to enjoy. Herrera’s creativity
shows through as he brings together instruments such
as the piano and horns to complment one another or
percussional stylings of timbales to keep things
upbeat. Most tracks are really slow and subdued, pics
are the upbeat ones. Enjoy. FCC Clean.
Beezher’s pics: 1,5,11
1.(7:44): smooth horns/bass rhythm, pianist has a
little fun, mellow groove
2.(3:32): flowery horn melody, clear male vocals,
meant to make you dance
3.(6:15): starts out subdued, horns lead harmonizing
with each other, sloooow
4.(5:37): very slooow, sweet piano intro, horns pickup
lightly to assist piano
5.(7:05): percussionists have some fun in this one,
upbeat and entertaining
6.(5:38): piano plays around and messes with your head
a bit
7.(5:36): more piano and a funny irritating rhythmic
noise
8.(5:11): slow, chill piano, some vocal bits, picksup
a little towards the middle
9.(5:12): tangoish rhythm, horns a wailin, sway with
this one, some vocal bits
10.(3:13): slooow, subdued, short and sweet
11.(4:08): danceable, light vocals, thick horns and
percussion, I can dig it
