Collection of modern Latin tracks from artists from many parts of the globe, in this case mostly Europe, California, and Cuba. Most of it sounds as if the Carneval parade were being held in a nightclub, in terms of the combination of high energy Latin percussion with dance beats and sampling. Many tracks exclusive to this comp.
FCC: “Shake your ass” on 7.
Try 1 and 7, then 4 and 8 – play em all, play em often! This shit ROCKS! (except 10 and to a lesser extent 5 and 11, a bit heavy on the trance)
1. **English/Indian duo/orchestra. Upbeat and lots of fun, sort of lounge cumbiamuffin. Instrumental.
2. *German duo, uptempo and energetic, sort of samba with dance beats & percussion. Instrumental with a few “heys”.
3. *Bay Area electronica, upbeat mambo with scratching and horns, some vocals.
4. *European club groove, complex percussion and bass, spacy keyboards and effects. Instrumental, long fade at end.
5. West LA club groove, more electronic/sample heavy than the other cuts. A bit mellow, with flutes/piano. Gorillaz go cha cha.
6. *Bay Area reggaeton, lots of vocals amidst all these instrumentals. Lots of electronic noises, but vocals humanize the mix.
7. **Great great great classic Cubanismo updated for this comp.
8. *Brazilian funk. If this don’t get your butt in motion, ain’t nothin’ will.
9. Cuban singer, fast tempo remix, but still somehow laid back.
10. Swiss/? trance groove with percussion. Nice beat, but VERY spacy and long.
11. Cuban pianist Omar Sosa with hip hop production.. Cumbia beat and crazy samples, but still somewhat laid back and trancey.
