Album Review
Wicked Child

Home-recorded "space drone." Long "evolving" tracks. Sigur Ros, Album Leaf & Brian Eno (Ambient) influences are apparent. These tracks would fit well into a dream sequence, driving asleep down a highway at 5mph towards nothingness. These are melancholy songs of longing not meant to be listened to during the day. Pick: d1t2. FCC Clean.
--Wicked Child
CD1:
1) Like Brian Eno's Music for Airports -- long, pregnant notes that build up to a layered majestic hopeful sound. First minute is very quiet.
*Slow/mournful* Almost sounds like the first four minutes are one warbling note like a choir warming up. Becomes muc louder/lush around 5:00. Hints of "space drone" start creeping in around minute 10. Overall feel is very solemn. At 30+ minutes, this track does get boring and I can't imagine it being suitable for radio play. 31:51
**2) Another space-drone track, louder with more hints of melody. Like the sparsest Sigur Ros songs. This is what Radiohead's Motion Picture Soundtrack would sound like if it were a 10+ minute instrumental piece. 12:06
CD2:
1) Richer instrumentation, moves faster and evolves quicker. Builds up and maintains multiple layers/instruments. Guitar, pianos, synth, ambient background. Album Leaf-y, maybe even a bit of Mogwai. ~18 minutes.
2) Opens with wave/rain noises from last track. Same Dream House sound, but combined with found sounds of walking their recently deceased dog, who this EP is a tribute to. Clip-clap of paws on pavement, dog panting, thunderstorms, rain, barking. Quite a lovely elegy, if you're in the mood for it. ~19 minutes.
