Re-release of heavy mid-late 80’s hardcore from NYC, very angry dark and STRAIGHTEDGE. Intelligent anti drug lyrics, singing about “the scene”. The earlier tracks exhibit slick production but not too terrible for a punk band, quite fresh actually as this veers hard from generic thrash hardcore of the era. Think Scratch Acid production, heaviness. Cool stuff, especially in a historical sense, as the later tracks cross over into metal a la Slayer or heavy “grunge” a la Soundgarden like so many “punk” bands ended up doing. Earlier tracks are better as the tracks post-#12 document when they picked up a metal guitarist to re-record many earlier songs, and the wankiness begins. Stick to the earlier stuff.
NOTE: Only the tracks listed below are without FCC violations. Do not play any track not listed below outside of safe harbor!
5) rockin roll, a cover of some sort
6) heavy rock for sure, Sabbath’esque
7) upbeat heavy straightedge anthem, metal tinged riffs
10) cool heavy dark, reverbed drums a la Scratch Acid come through, sound effects
11) 2/4 upbeat near thrash, cool stuff
14) mid-slow heavy, anthemic turns galloping upbeat
15) totally rockin’ dude, metal, wank fest
16) advertisement for Marshall amps, stick with the earlier version, track 10
17) cover of Zeppelin classic, wanky fuzz box interpretation that, well sucks, is embarrassing
18) again, another take on previous track 6, not so slick though and decent in a heavy rock sense
19) upbeat 2/4 thrash
22) yet another take on track 10, this one is cool heavy tom tom rock, thank god they turned down mr. hair metal marshall amp waynes world guitarist
23) upbeat driving gallop intro into 2/4 thrashiness take on track 11
