Sample electro with a bent experimental twist (“electrotwist”), along the compositional lines of Amon Tobin or Tipsy, but with less nod to 50’s exotica/Space-age Bachelor Pad music than to slick 70’s cheese and avante experimentalism (see MC Honkey). In fact samples from The Bay City Rollers, Boston, Fripp/Eno and Chicago rear their head just when I’m thinking Nurse With Wound. Nice use of sample layers, rhythms and treatments. All songs have cool non-cliché beats, sexy and downtempo most of the time. Songs ebb and flow and never get tiresome. The soundtrack to Karen Ann Quinlan’s 1975 Quaalude overdose, cut up and glued together by an epileptic funk band. Great stuff!

1) starts 60’s mod bachelor pad upbeat feel, turns into a downtempo flavor then gets ambient almost, spacey trippy
2) starts off romantic, then delves into bay city rollers, Chicago samples and a whole mess of stuff
3) poppy feel, pseudo live
4) mixed bag, going from collage to dance feel then strange electro, ends with phone message from crazy sounding obsessive girlfriend type
5) smooth 70’s jazz bachelor pad feel, I can swear theres a Boston lick manipulated as this evolves into a latin flare
6) more of a chill yet urgent electro feel, like Tomita on crystal meth and ritilin, until it crashes in the middle and turns into a comatose rhumba daydream
7) starts pretty noisy then goes through moodswings of various electro-twists, very long track
8) simple guitar samples, melody, halting, retro in feel
9) glitchy but melodic and almost “cute”, pretty at least
10) early 60’s surf feel, samples, more serious strangeness
11) more sample collage madness
