BUTTERFIELD / BARTHA – “Take Me to the Land of Jazz”

DIXIELAND – Two late 60s/early 70s sessions by Fort Lauderdale, Florida cornetist Andy Bartha. Bartha had a long career working with Pee Wee Hunt and others. The first 10 tracks feature Billy Butterfield on trumpet, who himself came near greatness playing with swing greats in the 30s and 40s. It’s all pretty decent traditional jazz, although I find the rhythm section stiff on some of the Butterfield tracks. 11-15 have a much breezier flow.
