Indie rock: female vocals, shoegazer kinds of chords but in a fairly fast package. Straightforward stuff, maybe touched by retro '60s girl-pop, that goes for an airy, wistful sound through walls of light, distorted guitar chords. Very catchy, often pretty. Twinges of Cockteau Twins in the vocals, but it's not that lush and more rocking. Two guitars, bass, drums; thickly, professionally produced. Band from Portland, OR. FCC clean.
This is their second album. It took three years to make -- because the band were such perfectionists and changed producers midstream, so the promo material says. Apparently the band's music figured heavily as background in a few MTV series; and yeah, these guys do get that cheesy "alternative TV" sound in places (esp. 1,2,4). Likeable stuff, though.
All tracks are pretty much mid/fast or fast, unless noted.
1- Kind of a big, deep sound, crunching, w/soft vocal.
2- High piping vocal, slightly sinister guitar sheen in chorus.
3- Very pretty and breezy, shimmery guitar, dreamy vocs
4- Mellow midtempo, pretty, maybe a touch sad
5- Jangly minor key. Instrumental; wordless vocals.
6- Kinda springy Euro-pop feel
7- Deep, relaxing sound; upbeat and poppy
8- Big soaring simple chords, mid/fast
9- Slowish, tender, kind of overacted. With acousic guitars.
