Mature, hushed indie pop and '70s rock with delicate vocals and folksy flavorings. Detached melodies that are sometimes brooding and sometimes sing-songy. Very good home production with well placed sounds and effects. Music and lyrics written between 1988 and 2005(!) by one-man-band Martin Charlebois. Generally rather boring, low/mid energy throughout with no surprises.
FCC: 12
(Somewhat arbitrary) Picks: 1, 4, 7, 9, 11
*1. 4:45 Light rock. Tinkling cymbal first 10 sec. then muted guitar strums, breaks to nice groove at 0:55.
2. 4:04 Light pop rock, drags a bit.
3. 6:49 Jazzy intro builds to dark, whisper-voiced rock with lots of low end. Distinction between acoustic and electric sections keeps the song from dragging too much.
*4. 3:56 Light acid rock. Broken-voiced tenor vox. Fade-out.
5. 2:15 Light acoustic singer/songwriter sound.
6. 6:45 Folk rock. Dark, with creepy, hollow guitar effects. Stagnant fade last 20-sec.
*7. 4:58 Acoustic rock. More upbeat and catchy, with nice subtle sounds towards the end.
8. 3:03 Acoustic rock. Soft and kind of boring.
*9. 4:00 '70s rock. Cool scratchy guitar towards end.
10. 5:16 Dark rock waltz. Builds nicely, a bit long.
*11. 3:13 Acoustic, tribal tom pulse with guitars etching the background. 8-sec. outro
12. 3:36 (FCC ind) Light rock waltz. muffled vox.
13. 11:18 Light rock, builds to higher energy with anthemic guitars. Abrupt change to reversed sounds at 6:11. Ho-hum hidden song for rest of track.
