New age and eastern-sounding, leans slightly experimental. I don't have much attention span for new-age usually, but this holds up in a
strange way, is interesting. Soft peaceful music, compositionally solid. Tracks 10-25 sound like the background music on Paul Bowles' Baptism of Solitude CD. Track 9 is my fav.
1. Chill marimba solo.
2. Romantic – flute, viola, harp. Nice flutter tongue on the flute.
3. The most boring/trite track? Grown-up Bambi soundtrack.
4. Soft, envelopes you in easy-listening sounds that somehow just aren't quite cheesy.
5. Very chill solo accordion.
6-9. Title piece – most active piece here, with rich instrumentation – played by the Cygnus Ensemble, which KZSU has more recordings of.
*9. Most experimental-sounding, and the best track.
10-25. Droney and cavernous, most tracks with a satsuma biwa (a Japanese plucked string instrument that sounds a little like a sitar
here) and electronic spacey sounds. All these tracks run together.
15 and 18 have female vox.
20, 21, *23. The most interesting biwa tracks. The last 50 seconds of 23 has lots of silence.
