For sheer no-holds-barred pushing the envelope, nay the definition of “music” (or at least great fucked up shit) few labels match Deathbombarc, and this is a collection of their “finest” (the few, the proud). Actually this runs the gamut: starting with an indie folk song straight from the Will Oldham fakebook (wha’?!) into some ear-splitting noise, sound collage, low-fi, then into some really interesting stuff that certainly qualifies as “D” or at least “D-X”. I dunno, if you were wondering what single cd to burn at kzsu that would give you the most “out there”, cutting edged sampling, before you split Stanford, look no further.
1) sensitive indie-folk: sounds exactly like will Oldham, bonnie prince billy or something like that, odd song out
2) 1 minute barrage of synth-noise, synth/noise, harsh, ouch!
3)FCC, spoken word
4) FCC (too bad)
5) casio toy-synth pop, childlike, acidsoxx type
6) cool noisey downtempo beat, heavily treated voices subliminal over eastern toned stereo panned melody, great!!
7) cool sound collage, low fi, looped, bizarre
8) kinda of a trippy downtempo thing with a woman wailing, blends nicely into the next track
9) downtempo feel, some eastern bowing tones, George Harrison channeling through layers of plastic and angel dust
10) pretty fun stuff: “F-R-E-S-H” fresh fresh! Funky simplicity
11) electronic collage, spastic and noisey
12) FCCs
13) simple low-fi pop, “the meaning of life was written on a phone book”
14) definitely the best band name winner: pounding, insane heavy cathartic crushing (who says “whats in a name?”)
15) simple casio-esque electronics, cool and noisey, pensive, dance music for those of us who took way too much LDS in the 70’s
16) brief treated collage/samples
17) FCCs(safe harbor only) fans of Chicks on Speed, Le Tigre, chick electro
18) upbeat noisey synth based electro-rock, melodic male/fem vocs
19) upbeat 2/4 beat breaks down, low-fi noisey, electronic
20) dark electro, electro-clash rappy feel
21) “Me So Horny”, bunch of dudes singing, silly, strange as hell sarcastic electronic
22) FCCs
23) dirgey slop noise rock
24) noisey sample collage
25) noisey sample collage that uses treated 70’s funk soul as sound bed
26) sample collage, schitzo
27) quiet start to very brief ear crushing noise
