“Synth punk/Post punk from Paris”. Sung in English, this stuff has over the top quirky synth elements of 80’s new wave dance music but tempers it with a healthy dose of ripping post punk. Good stuff for fans of The Fucking Ocean, Metal Urbain, Wire (cranked), Joy Division/early New Order. This shit is the real deal, no pasty faced poseurs in pegged jeans with backwards hair looking like 14 year old girl runaways.
FCC clean. My Picks: 2, 3
1) simple casio synth, electroclashy with sorta silly vocs, but then post punky guitar appears and the song takes on a more urgent tone, post punk
2) simple synth sequence, vocs appear, then the whole shebang goes bang! Yay yeah
3) 80’s new wave dance feel (Rock Lobster!), the guitar lifts a Joy Division riff verbatim (“they walked in line”), whole thing rocks
4) starts with synth melody, builds to a mid paced new wave dancey feel
5) tribal military beat and delivery, snare, tom, crashes
6) extra track: live recording (lots of crowd blabbing), upbeat urgent, chorus pedal and drum beat is very very 80’s dance punk/new wave, very Joy Division, early New Order
