LOCAL woawoaWOA! Trevor Thornton makes the craziest songs with sampled sounds, machines & various instruments in his Oakland apt. As described on his website (kittinfishmountain.com) he makes “music out of things & things out of music”. Samples from various 50s sounding films/tv, has a variety of instrument & electronic sounds, & random stuff like slot machines. All tracks segue into one another w/no breaks in btw; most are short. Some are pretty playful & amusing, others are a bit creepy and eerie. FCC #10, Picks: 1,2,4,5,8

- fun & fast childlike song w/casino slot machine sampling
- mid-tempo electro beats & tapping w/clever manipulation of what sounds like a man w/accent on the phone sounding confused “hello? tell me who are you”
- happy, playful samples of flutes(?) mixed w/bluesy trumpet & cheesy, electro space sounds; manipulated sound byte of kid from 50s sounding source
- video game sounds w/repetitive computer male vox “I don’t know” “I think so”
- eerie sounding, sampling from child film “peter and the wolf” (?) and distant, echo-y male voice “you can call me steve”
- creepy, jagged violins and echo-y bell sounds, & sampling of 50s sounding source, two men arguing
- german vocals w/sparse electro beats, then high-pitched yodeling & muffled fem voice (0:44)
- soft beat in the background w/distant piano, high-pitched electro sounds fading in/out, muffled male voice
- old, muffled male voice singing, w/crazy upbeat bells mixing w/commercial jingle sounding vocals, can’t quite understand; fades into old ragtime blues song
- (FCC: “fucking” twice, “cocksucker”) a lot going on, multiple voice samples w/midtempo beats and happy, childlike electro keyboard melody; builds into louder and more chaotic sound “lalala!”, then goes back
