Atmospheric trumpet over a gentle piano/bass/drums trio, another round of relaxing, pretty stuff from Stanko and his Poland-based band. Piano dabbles with rich jazzy chords in a crystalline "ECM" kind of filter. Stanko's trumpet is mostly slow and towering; faster tracks like #4 let him mess around with faster notes.
Three long tracks (1,5,8) are split in thirds, with lovely intros followed by more "free" segments, and nicely jazzy endings. Interesting stuff that shifts the mood but doesn't lose the restraint and lyricism of the "regular" tracks.
- Delicate and slow, to +4:33 (good stopping point). Then a lightly crazy free interlude, nice. Ends with a light groove.
- Mysterious feel; builds to a solid mid/fast segment halfway.
- Pretty, slow. Delicate, with richly jazzy chords.
- Upbeat riffs; bouncy stacatto feel. Brisk trumpet work.
- Whispery start. STOPS +4:39 ... then a slowly propulsive jazzy jam; gets very quiet before a brisk, upbeat ending jam
- Gentle, rolling riff. Gets loud/soaring but stays softly melodic
- Slow and gentle
- Sad, very slow. Into a quietly odd segment, mysterious and strange, then a softly passionate ending.
- Mildly dark but lyrical, cascading. Quite slow.
