Another set of free-jazz snippets from multi-instrumentalist Fasteau (frequently on piano), this time reflecting on Hurricane Katrina, so it's not all that happy. She is joined by saxophonist Kidd Jordan and drummer Michael Thompson -- similar configuration to last year's "Making Waves" CD. Lots of swirling-ocean piano, and some particularly tart, strangled sax from Jordan, who hails from New Orleans.
Excellent stuff overall. FCC clean.
- Halting slow confusion, gets screaming and tense
- Squealy, screechy chaos; gets into a good fast jazzy spot
- Fast fluttering sax under a nice tribal beat.
- Asian flute: calming. Cool balaphon percussion, very "world"
- Gloopy faux-whale noises; sax squeals
- Plaintive sax wails. Later, a jazzy dance with piano.
- Fairly fast and dark, w/energetic sax
- Two-sax wailing, a darkly joyous feel
- Fast, low-level sax/piano chaos. Artsy; builds steam.
- Nicely jazzy jump, gets into high emotional squealing
- Sad little lament (50 seconds)
- Fast, tumbling, angry
- Slowly soaring, melodic. Sad and strong, lots of resolve
