Local improv group with a lot of strange sounds. Plenty of electronics (Scott Looney); also lots of odd sounds from Gino Robair on percussion and bowed objects. Some jazzy noises come from Jacob Lindsay on various clarinets, often in quick bursts or abrasive drones. Spiky, often abrasive stuff, but more studious than most "noise."
NOT related to any rock band called Yellowcake!
Lots of interesting sounds packed in there -- with some of Gino's acoustic sounds sounding electronic in origin. Challenging stuff; fans of laptop artists like Blevin Blechtum or Chaos Butterfly might give it a shot.
1- Sparse start that speeds up. Small snapping whooshes of electronics; percussive bowing of some object for a metallic ringing tone.
2- Overall quieter and calmer, with its noisy moments and a fast, loud ending. Soothing ringing/percussive sounds at the start.
3- Slow blare, into a relatively sparse flow, prickly but calm. One CRASH midway opens a brief active spurt.
4- A chuggy jungle sound 2 minutes in, w/monkey-like noises ... later slow and swampy with vocal-like sounds
5- Cartoony low, slow sounds, leading into slow attacks of noise. Ends with a nice percussion "solo."
6- Fairly fast, nicely rolling
7- Flowing, choppy drone, almost relaxing. Sparse, quiet start with Zorn-like squawks
