Slow and sludgey sounds from this often lauded but rather obscure band. Overall pretty good stuff mixing the Birthday Party, Danzig and the Melvins, bits of not-always-played out classic rock. A pretty odd album that takes a few listens to get used to.
(((1))) Oozing sludge with “Danzig from Dixie” vocals.
(((2))) Bassy, and melted hard rock vibe. Sorta like Clutch and the Melvins fused together on 12 ½ rpm.
((3)) Very slow and twangy, mostly terrible vocals like Danzig on downers.
(((4))) Hazy ballad-like, similar to a lot of classic rock leaning bands from the early 90’s (Screaming Trees, Afghan Whigs). Works pretty well.
(((5))) A funny sample from with a kid who wins an Alan Parson Project album. Then “sludge-prog-metal” with a bunch of stop/starts
(((6))) Starts off great but ends up like a baaaad 70’s hard rock ballad.
((7)) More sludge & doom rock with deep “mountain man” vocals. Has some potential but the vocals (Is this Zakk Wylde?) & epic length just kill it.
(((8))) Nice 70’s folk song introspection mixed with Soutern rawk twang. Suprisingly good.
((((9)))) Big sounding epic, 80’s ballad thing eventually gets into “ethereal” when the vocals kick in. Much better than you might think-give it time.
