Thick, slow, and dreamy atmospheric soundscapes from a duo of former Common Children band members. Fadey guitars and synths (or are they all guitars?) with a notable lack of drone fuzz dominate the sound, with some glassy piano and pop instrumentation as well to round things out. The sound is notably cosmic and distant, with all tracks comparable in their low energy, melodic motivation, and grand feel (as the Pitchfork reviewer suggests, just read the track names - "Where The Sky Pours Down Like A Fountain", "Disappear Like The Morning... Like Starlight Into Day" etc.)
FCC Clean, mostly instrumental.
Picks: All very similar. My favorites are 2,5,12,13,14,17
See also: Sigur Rós, The Album Leaf, Boards of Canada, etc. etc. but without the beats.
1) 4:13 - Vamped instrumental.
*2) 5:01 - Most radio-friendly. Atmospheric post rock sound w/lyrics.
3) 6:22 - Spacious guitar vamp splits and builds slightly.
4) 5:22 - Slow, blissful.
*5) 4:16 - Slightly higher energy. Careful guitar strums and percussion.
6) 4:33 - Atmosphere with pulsing treble chords.
7) 1:28 - Rushing and tinkling.
8) 6:41 - More directly structured. Guitar melody and light percussion.
9) 4:59 - Piano and cello.
10) 4:19 - Droney opening into shimmering sound.
11) 1:11 - Brief atmosphere.
*12) 4:46 - Low energy, slowly shifting pop. 15-sec out.
*13) 3:54 - Atmosphere with dreamy lyrics, acoustic guitars, and drums. 11-sec out.
*14) 3:58 - Sunny, strummed acoustic guitar and sighing vox lend a summer feel.
15) 2:11 - I imagine pillars of colored sound.
16) 5:07 - Organic and droning
*17) 5:47 - Fuzzier with melodic bowed guitars and supporting piano.
18) 1:12 - Drones slowly fade in and are joined by spinning fuzz.
