Croatian artists concoct songs that skirt the boundaries of moody shoegaze to happy techno pop with an 80’s flare, dramatic gothic chamber. Some very interesting approaches to music here, knowing no genre pigeonholing these guys go from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds to 1980’s Ultravox to techno pop to Chamber brooding then Einstruzende Neubauten dark industrial goth from one track to another, all sung in the very exotic sounding Croatian tongue. Definately cool, interesting. Check it out.
FCC clean (in English at least), my picks: 2, 3, 5, 10, 12
1) techno dance pop, brief
2) Tindersticks/Nick Cave brooding with Hammond organ
3) very quiet sparse (near dead air) 30 sec intro to upbeat 80’s-ish dance pop with synth and vaguely disco feel, nice
4) very brief electronic noise
5) cinematic, near chamber pop with orchestral, symphonic strings and plodding beat, very dramatic with operatic solo vocal at end
6) brief, bass driven, then some synth noise
7) upbeat, disco’ey with low-fi tracking used as a layer, cool, spooky and eerie
8) low synth tone, others fade in, dark ambient synth track
9) operatic male vocs over orchestral washes, dramatic
10) Nick Cave’isms border on folk goth a la Current 93 with minor keyed acoustic guitar and anguished male vocs, then midway an electronic rhythm appears and this sounds like something a hip hop producer might sample, strange as its sounds
11) gothic acoustic ballad again, falsetto vocals, minimal with spooky background vocs and a synth melody
12) weird demonic vocalizations, very strange, brief
13) synth pop, shoegaze
14) brief electric piano solo
15) spooky narrative voice in German over dark minor synth, no doubt a story
16) very spooky dark synths build to a pounding rhythm a la Einstruzende Neubauten
