KILLER, “proper progressive heavy metal” with a political stance. This is the local band’s 2006 album, focused on tons of tempo and mood shifts, multiple male and female vocalists and plenty of classy riffs and solos. Excellent all the way through.
(((((1))))) Fast and proggy metal without the lame diversions into silliness or wank.
((((2)))) Sort of like a power ballad with female vox and piano but this works incredibly well. Nightwish this ain’t.
(((((((3)))))) Acoustic intro then totally metal and rockin’ tempo. Very angry and direct political lyrics (they’re looking at YOU Rumsfeld & Cheney!) The vox are just ace!
((((4)))) Acoustic guitar and piano with very nice dual female vox and a doomy, metallic shift towards the end.
((((((5))))) Rather good ‘Maiden/Deep Purple-ish riffs with trippy psychy female vox & keyboards. Stunning!
((((6)))) Swaggery and tough metal riffage with epic vocals, some good political lyrics that to say “pox on both houses” on the war on terrorism.
((((((7))))) Totally awesome, instrumental that kicks out the jams from 70’s hard rawk and the best of 80’s metal.
((((8)))) Sad ballad that builds into a pretty strong mix of prog, choral-based epic metal and whatnot. Gets more interesting as it moves on.
