Re-issued super rare early 80’s post punk new wave Scottish band. Angular, disjunct, dissonant yet melodic, interesting near-“pot-pans” percussion. Faltering off-key male vocs of day, smack of Human League, Echo and the Bunnymen, Gang of Four. Guitars definitely sound like the latter (alas, but who came first?!). Great stuff, for fans of Lilliput, Gang of Four for sure, The Fall or most other post-punk, London art punk, dueling noise-guitar, dissonance.
1) poppy feel, melodic off key guitar, danceable
2) upbeat, jangly feel almost in guitars
3) disjunct, epic no wave of the era, with cool in-studio false start
4) excellent, loopy melodies, dissonance
5) denser, with keys, female back vocals
6) excellent instrumental, explores the melody of guitar dissonance
7) another instrumental, noise guitar abounds
8) mostly instrumental with screams and non-sense vocalizations
9) swingy, very Fall’esque
10) cool jam, minimal vocs/lyrics
11) instrumental jam, upbeat, pensive, nervous
12) upbeat jam, swingy drunken and careless
13) slicker version of the track 3, no false start this time, but thinner somehow
14) cool guitar melodies, instrumental jam
15) another version of track 9
16) another version of 6, Liliput’ish
