Improvised free jazz, often abstract, from a sax/bass/drums trio. Lots of energy and propulsion, even on the slower pieces. Every track is a great listen. I haven't heard of the two Europeans here but drummer Lou Grassi is a New York fixture who's been on plenty of great sessions.
Martin Speicher (sax/clarinet)
Georg Wolf (bass)
Lou Grassi (drums)
1- Mid/fast jazzy flow. Gets furious and speedy by about halfway through.
2- Slow, sly. Nice slow-burn feel on the sax.
3- Skittish and fairly fast, nicely engaging. Lots of puffy little sounds that add up to a raucous whole.
4- Sparse, slowish. Lots of crazy percussion.
5- Quiet groany activity, into a nice midtempo flow after a few minutes. Slowly tuneful sax with a trill.
6- A creeping tunefulness on clarinet, slow and quiet. Starts cooking after about 4 minutes, a strong midtempo jam. Good start/stop point around -6:00. Then a pitter-patter drum solo and a slower, thoughful segment. It's long (14 minutes) but builds very nicely, worth an extended listen.
