Scout Niblett
"This Fool Can Die Now"
Scout Niblett really seems to fit the shoes of the 'Bjork of the Wild West.' She embraces a dark, mournful post-country/folk style which is more than just thematic. Her intimate, weeping vocals are accompanied by Bonnie "Prince" Billy on tracks 1,2,7 and 13 with tremendous effect. These duets are among the strongest tracks on the album, along with "Elizabeth (Black Hearted Queen)" and "Baby Emma."

1 (5:44) A wailing ballad for the first 2:00, then the track changes to a soft, vocal-based harmonized duet.
2 (6:09) A beautiful, tightly-produced track with a classic sound and great vocals from both Niblett and "Prince" Billy.
3 (2:02) A bizarre rock beat washes out Niblett's soft vocals.
4 (3:47) The chorus consists of a heavy rock beat while the refrain is set to marching beat and simple guitar accompaniment.
5 (2:33) Wailing classic rock-- might sound a bit like a baby Janis Joplin.
6 (3:32) Beautiful track with forlorn vocals, crisp guitar and fiddle.
7 (2:35) This duet achieves the dark, throaty "Johnny Cash" sound that the album seems to be striving for.
8 (5:28) A rough classic rock sound.
9 (3:32) Niblett really shines on this track; her vocals seem to well-up with tears.
10 (4:35) Accompanied by cello and full-bodied guitar.
11 (3:51) Lyrics are hilarious! Great song! (FCC: "Shit" at the end)
12 (5:08) A nice continuation of the last song. Cute lyrics.
13 (2:54) A soft, classic duet.
