Cheese On Bread – The Search For Colonel Mustard Reviewed by Witz
Fun, quirky, indie pop. Cheese On Bread formed in West Philly while they were undergrads. Now living in New York, and adding three-more members, they have taken the goofy, college attitude and added…more instruments. Fun, quirky, goofy, the five-piece band writes songs that are amusing and danceable. They are also intellectually abundant, socially aware, and at times, appropriately cynical. Their vocals are primarily female driven and have great harmonies and overall, a “good time” vibe. FCC: 3, 7
1) Bouncy, horns, energetic vocals. (3:40)
**2) Poppy, catchy, semi-serious, socially amusing. (3:07)
*3) FCC (fuck). Tip-toeing, pseudo-love song. (2:47)
4) Peppy, rolling, New Orleans-y pop. Sounds a lot like The Muppets Show Theme (2:02)
5) Sauntering, mellow and upbeat parts, poppy. Good vox. (3:20)
6) Soft, finger-picking, keyboard, builds up and gets louder. (5:16)
*7) FCC (very quick fuck it around 2:20). Fast paced, energetic, pop. (3:00)
8) Fast, but quieter song about cornfields (not a metaphor). Country feel. Gets louder halfway through. (3:50)
9) Softer, poppy, angry song with happy sounding vocals. (3:34)
*10) Soft, catchy narrative with great social commentary. (3:16)
11) Nice melody with softer and louder parts. Energetic and mellow. Good variation. (4:05)
12) Soft, airy, melancholy nostalgia song. (4:46)
13) End track—not much to it. (0:51)
