Martin Atkins (Industrial drummer) teams up with underground Chinese musicians. Little bit of everything: Industrial-rock, post-punk, rap, dance beats. A lot of the textures and loops involve traditional Chinese instruments. Found it quite hit-or-miss. FCC on 5. Picks 2,5,6,9.
1-3:57) Upbeat fast, slightly industrial feel. Layered with cutup samples of news broadcasts.
*2-4:19) Long intro with traditional instruments. Percussive beat filters in. Then becomes dancey. Ends on more trad. sounds.
3-3:59) Trad. Tibetan singing. Rap-rock beat. Turntablism
4-5:04) Hip hop. Maybe this is better in Mandarin???
*5-4:26) Drawn out intro into fast post-punk. FCC "fucking" (it's pretty quiet tho).
*6-4:52) Trad. instruments and faded broadcast. Fast Industrial beat.
7-4:02) Lots of trad. instruments with effects and loud echoey looped trap drumming.
8-4:25) More tibetan singing over a beat.
*9-3:50) A vehicle for turntabilism. Mid fast beat. Super fast parts towards end.
10-2:24) More hip hop. A little funkier than 4.
11-3:48) LOTS of percussion that is layered with news samples. Steady tribal drum pounding in
background with crescendoes and speeds up to midway, then dies down.
