One measure Ms. K is going about singing a torchy ballad, the next she’s extrapolating notes into the most unlikely, and sometimes, unpleasant places. You want to laugh because you’re sure this is some sort of comedic put-on, an impressionist, but then you remember she’s Swedish. (ba-dum-pum) Though singing in various tongues, spoken and “merely” pronounced or ululated. But here’s the thing – she does not have a “special” voice, so neither the straight singing nor the extensions really strike a chord, so to shriek, er, so to speak. And she doesn’t do such very interesting things with her voice (such as, for example, Jaap Blonk, with whome she’s performed). So I can’t say listening to this was a rewarding experience for me (though apparently she’s made some inroads with the award-bestowing classes in Sweden), but the following tracks may fall a tad closer to the mainstream idea of music: 1, 3, 7, 8, 11, 13
