“Palpable” “violent” chamber music pieces.
* 1-15 Short, abstract sound portraits of various nouns and verbs that the composer
has failed to adequately differentiate; various instruments and combos; most
tracks difficult, but also short, to promote adventurism
* 16 “The piece is dedicated to the pleasure of going out in the evening, to the bars
fluc and flex in Vienna” – that’s fabulous but the relationship between that
dedication and composition/performance (an accordion solo, BTW) is not obvious
to the listener, so don’t be looking for a 21st century classical take on clubbing
** 17 Oh, get out! This one is an homage to Motörhead. But yeah, this one works.
Raucous, occasionally out of control
** 18 Piano-solo interpretation of Spiderman’s alter ego; rapid arpeggios sort of echo a
spider quickly crawling around
** 19 A final abstract musical celebration, this time of the train station Gander can see
from his window; a bit mysterious, adventurous, and noisy, as befits the subject;
ends with about 25 seconds remaining on the clock
