This album to start off was amazing. The album combines a plethora of genres such as Jazz, Funk, Alternative and Big Band. Every track is worth listening to and it was hard to pick out which ones were my favorites. This band has an immense amount of talent and is amazingly upbeat. The music conjures up feelings of happiness but other songs were mellow and more of easy listening. Tracks 3 and 10 sound like something that one would find on the Oceans 11 soundtrack. As a whole this album is well worth hours of playtime and this band has nothing but good to offer any listener.
My favorites were:2,4,7,10,and 13, FCC clean, Instrumental
1. A quirky intro that sets the mood for the rest of the album.
2*.Very upbeat and lively sounding a lot like a Pixies/Jazz combination. Horns brighten up this track and mix well with the peppy jazz guitar.
3.Calm happy jazz.
4*.Upbeat with a sort of mysterious vibe to it. Eventually builds into a magnificent piece that is one of the best on the album. Brings together elements of Big Band and alternative rock.
5.slow bass beat punctuated by slight guitar squeals and a light piano in the background. Eventually building into a solo piano layered piece that keeps the slow mood of the song.
6. Quick tempo and a horn heavy sound gives this a track a nice big band feeling.
7*.Good mellow track with funk guitar and jazz horns.
8. quiet piano heavy track. Behind the piano are bongo drums and some ominous guitar sounds.
9.A guitar heavy track with Big Band horns and an medium tempo.
10*.Calm track yet with a feeling of mystery to it. which places emphasis on the echo function of a guitar. Overlapping that with a slow jazz horn sound. The track is punctuated by sounds of the piano and even what may possibly be an accordion. Sounds a lot like Jazz mixed with tropical music.
11.A short odd track that has random instruments and a psychedelic guitar playing.
12. A steady tempo piano driven track. The piano shifts from a steady melody to a somber one. Throughout the song a horn comes in and works well with the piano.
13*. A great way to end the album. The horns and the guitar worked together to create a giant sound. Great way to end the album.
