Innocent pop, like music for a beloved kids' TV special. Bright-eyed touches of early '70s retro, especially when the trumpet crosses over the airy guitars. Spritely whispery female vocals and calm male ones. Some nifty subtle electronics sounds letting you know it's modern (and Japanese).
Anyone who dug the recent Citay album needs to hear this, especially track 9. It also jibes with what little I know/remember about the whole Elephant 6 and Olivia Tremor Control vector.
1- Pastoral folky bounce w/flute and trumpet. Long instrumental intro.
2- Peppy chamber feel w/jazzy chords, neat clarinet/flute work. Really blooms later on.
3- A gentle charm. Would be a lullabye, but it's got a touch of slow rock to it.
4- Slightly sad folky feel, female vocal, some old-school synth. Gorgeous stuff.
5- Slow, close-mic'ed vocal, gets more intense later.
6- Pleasant tune, some glitchy drum sounds. Very catchy and simple chorus. Strange ending.
7- Easy, gentle rollling. Lightly picked guitars. Ends with filtered guitar strum; you'll want to fade out.
8- Gentle, simple. Heavy accented Japanese vocal.
9- Dreamy. Long, lush instrumental intro. Slow flute and clarinet lines, nifty percussion/drums. Slow sleepy vocals, very '60s. Long instrumental outro.
10- Airy, nostalgic vocals, with a snappy beat to the chorus.
