Roots All Sorts
Reviewed by Sadie O., 7/23/08
Electronic dub Reggae from the UK. Fairly unusual sound, well produced. Very political, hard times lyrics for the most part, although vocals are often quite disjointed. Deserves attention.
No FCCs detected. I liked it all, 4, 6, 11, 12 probably the most.
1. **downtempo, swingy, some orchestral sounds and some electronic, gentle singing.
2. **midtempo skippy electronic bounce. Glitchy, disjointed bits of singing – dubby, but in a different way.
3. **slow bounce, quirky.
4. ***slinky crawl, bits of female vocals but mostly instrumental.
5. **downtempo rootsy skank.
6. ***slow, hiccuppy crawl with electronic burbles, instrumental.
7. **very slow, very dubby, both instrumentation and vocals.
8. **downtempo and dramatic, with grunting. Hm!
9. **very slow, sort of creepy.
10. **uptempo, hiccuppy, with chimes and sad lyrics. Odd.
11. ***slow bloopy skank with lots of electronic noises. Relaxed and pretty groovy.
12. ***electronic noise intro, then boopy, slightly uptempo skank, almost sounds like it was done on a kid’s toy. Fun.
13. **very slow and dramatic.
