Loudspeaker Speaker Meets Clearly Human – Like Ten Feet Tall
Reviewed by Sadie O., 7/31/08
Deep electronic dub instrumentals. The press blurb calls it “rocksteady trash-step glitchhop cinema static dub… I guess I can live with that… Apparently two guys messing around in a living room. Much of it is pretty trance-y, but tracks 4, 7 and 8 are pretty rockin’, in their own kinda way…
1. 5:00 (almost silent til 7 seconds in!) *chimes and shakers for 40 seconds, then deep downtempo dub skank with lots of echo/vibrato. Electronic feedback for most of the last minute.
2. 5:42 **electronic squeeps and bass for 15 seconds, then downtempo dub skank, rather hypnotic. Some quite groovy hand percussion. Again ends with about a minute of electronic static and feedback.
3. 2:23 *slow tom ‘n’ hi-hat, sparce bits of keyboards, very relaxing.
4. 4:09 ***midtempo drum ‘n’ bass with sparse guitar, groovy wiggle.
5. 4:18 *just shakers for almost 40 seconds, then spooky electronics, very slow lopassed beat.
6. 1:07 *bass drum, snare and electronic hisses.
7. 3:44 ***slinky downtempo groove and… surf guitar? Gets quite upbeat and uptempo. Gnarly!
8. 3:57 ***very slow, with echo on the drum and vibrato on the guitar.
9. 1:47 *bit of sound collage, then very bass heavy simple keyboard and complex drum.
