One Day As A Lion-One Day As A Lion
They claim to be a mix of Dr. Dre and Led Zep, but i dunno about that. They're pretty good for a 2 man group, Zach de la Rocha on....keyboard? and John Theodore on drums. Kinda weird but still good. Like Rage this album combines and breaks down genres with each song. The album reminds me a little bit of Rage's cover album Renegades but other then that it's a completely different group from Mars Volta and Rage Against the Machine. The instrumentation is very much like some Nine Inch Nails more industrial work especially track 3.It's a decent hip hop album with good rapping and lyrics by De La Rocha. But it was the Volta influence that made me keep listening. Good if you only listen to one or two tracks but listening to the whole album started to give me a headache and the songs are all too similar.. Overall the album could be defined as Industrial Hip Hop.I like 1&2. NOT FCC clean!!
*1. FCC-shit a couple of times. Really low key emphasising the keyboard that echos Tom Morello's guitar finnese. The music has a dark mood to it but other then that it's a solid, angry piece of work.
*2. Extremly distorted. The vocals are good but the instrumentation is tedious and reptetive; at some points managing to overcast the vocals and give one a migrane.
3. Fast and up tempo with slightly distorted vocals. A really good track!
4. FCC-Bastard, Fuck This track is dark moody and kind of annoying.
5.FCC-Shit Another angry track that is very much like track 1. The song was repetitve and annoying and lacked a lot of originality from the rest of the album.
