7 indie/garage & punk bands from New Haven, CT. A mixed bag but some of it’s rather good.
#1-3 - Swaggerts – Decent rockabilly but nothing special.
#4 & #5 - 3 Finger Demon tight & punk n’ roll ‘ala Zeke/Misfits/Turbonegro. Both tracks are bare bones but get right to the fuggin’ point.
#6-#9 - Groovski – Strumy indie/post-punk to offkilter punk often sung in Polish. #8 is pretty rad, like an old “Bloodstains Across…” circa: 1980.
#10-#13 – The Beer Scouts of America - Trashy, ugly drunk punk. Not bad but really clichéd to the point it being “that dodgy opening band”
#14-#17 – The Vultures - Raw, loud as hell guitar punkified, grunge & hardcore. Very early 90’s but generally good. #14 is really nice & charged. #16 is a solid instrumental jam.
#18-#21 –The Battlecats - So-so indie rock. Decent male & female harmonies but overall too cutesy to rise above anything interesting.
#22-#25 – The Defcon 5 - Garage punk rawk. Solid guitar sound, sometimes the vocals are way blown out. #22 & #25 are choice.
