Wee "You Can Fly On My Aeroplane" – Smooth soulful love songs with a touch of funk and/or disco on some songs. Coming out of Columbus, Ohio, Wee is mostly the brainchild of Norman Whiteside. It’s been out of print for 30 years and Numero Group has lovingly reissued it. The songs are lush, smooth, and full of dreamy, airy, and sometimes druggy feelings. Almost all songs are love songs and are heavily influenced by Stevie Wonder and Sly Stone. Perhaps more interesting for its obscurity and back story than its musical greatness, but still pretty cool and worth a listen. Fcc clean.
My Picks: 5

1) Fades in with dreamy guitars and falls into a mellow laid-back slow jam. Lots of keyboards and smooth male vocals.
2) Steady funky/disco beat. Smooth keyboards and guitars give it a laid-back midtempo feel. Layered male vocals. Funny wah-wah guitar “scat” near the end.
3) Dreamy druggy keyboards got into a slow dragging midtempo beat with some lead guitar. Has a very late 70s sound bouncing between solos on guitar and keyboards. About half through the vocals finally come in with a harder funky feel. Layered male vocals.
4) Fades in slowly with keyboard and what sounds like vibes. Piano is added as well. Slow and pretty. Instrumental.
5) Midtempo with a funky bass beat. A bit reminiscent of Sly Stone. Laid-back and chill.
6) Fades in with keyboards. Slow ballad. Dreamy spacey guitars and keyboards. About 2/3 through the tempo picks up and it gets a bit jazzy.
7) Midtempo and smoothed out. Groovy sexy number in that satin sheets rotating bed sort of way.
8) Starts with “ooo-ooos” and goes into a slow midtempo groovy jam. Vocals remind me a bit of Al Green.
9) Starts with “chime” sounds like a clock. Then piano and keyboards come in with the main theme. Stripped down and simple version of track 1. Vocals come in right at the end.
10) Same as track 8, but a little faster and cleaner sounding. This is definitely trying to reach a larger pop audience.
11) Piano and keyboards and smooth male vocals. Slow midtempo.
12) Starts with slower organ and keyboards. Lays down a slow midtempo beat with a full sound. Sweet love song.
13) Cute bells and groovy midtempo beat. Light and fun with a slight taste of disco.
14) Slow midtempo and very smooth. Is this the same as track 12? It sounds almost exactly the same!
15) Starts with cowbell and guitar wah-wah. Harder funkier beat with some piano. Faster midtempo with the occasional disco beat. Happy and fun.
16) Slow midtempo with piano, organ, and simple drumbeat. Smooth layered male vocals.
17) Solid midtempo drums start it off. Guitars, bass, and keyboards come in with a funky laid-back fun feel. Several different vocalists trading off.
18) Starts quiet with keyboards and male vocals. Builds with bass and drums into a slow sad love song.
19) Piano starts it off then male vocals are added. Nice harmonies. Simple and stripped down.
