Straight-up contemporary jazz led by violin, usually electric 5-stringed violin. Nicely melodic compositions with some active, grooving soloing space. Relaxed jazz guitar, peppy sax.
The violin isn't always front-and-center; many themes are left to the sax and guitar. Yehudit's solos have a clear, airy feel, with plenty of double-stops (two-stringed playing) for some nice dissonant moments. Instrumental; FCC clean.
Yehudit (violin)
Sheldon Brown (sax, clarinet)
Steve Erquiaga (guitar)
Dan Feiszli (bass)
Curt Moore (drums)
Gerry Grosz (vibraphone)
1- Satiny, swingy theme, lots going on in 10/8 time. Soft, fast guitar intro.
2- Careful creeping, into a pleasant slow vamp. Guitar and violin solos; comforting vibraphone
3- Floaty free intro. Pleasantly tense theme over electric bass. Mildly fusiony, maybe; nicely open feel.
4- Slowish tropical feel, a winding theme. Almost a toylike quality with a touch of bossa nova.
5- Slow, lurking. Unaccompanied violin and clarinet solos. Then, after a few minutes, a peppy '60s-jazz theme pops in. Very nice; I really like the way this one's constructed.
6- Peppy, upbeat. Really nice violin and sax solos.
7- Soft, relatively quiet.
