Mellow, studio-oriented electro-pop. Jihae is apparently Korean, and has a smooth, rich, deep feminine voice. There are tinges of trip-hop, alternative rock, but the remixes (tracks 1-4) especially take on sort of a dream-pop quality. This is mellow stuff. This EP features one new track, track 1, and the rest are remixes of tracks off of her debut album from 2007. Honestly, the remixes are more interesting than the original material. No FCCs noted.
1. Electro-pop. Bells and stuff jingle, really overproduced, electronic percussion and touches. Choruses feature light, rhythmic guitar chords over heavy electronic drums, lots of backing vocals in this. Really mellow and not memorable enough for what I assumed is a single. (3:24)
*2. Sort of dreamy vocals and slow, dark guitars, swooning strings. Play this late at night. This sort of reminds me of Bjork. The beats give this a slight trip-hop feel. I wonder what the original sounds like. (4:38)
3. Old sample used to open the track, sloow groove, with some weird horns and percussion in here. Kind of strange. (4:28)
*4. Whooshing atmospherics, super-electronic-y percussion, way weird. Backing vocals, strings, and guitars maneuver around the electro-drums. A little repetitive by the end, refrain ‘Don’t want to fall in love with you.’ (4:22)
5. Another electronic beat dominates, warm synths contrast with ominous guitars. Sort of dancey choruses. Maybe this is the most poppy thing on here. (4:20)
