Lo-fi, distorted to all hell, noise pop. Emphasis on distortion. Abrasive, dissonant, fuck-up-your-ears-when-listening-to music. Kids from Chicago write about partying and all the simplistic, raging, adolescent pleasures and present them in a completely fucked up, noisy package. Touches of punk, electronica, and pop rock, this is sort of like an amateur No Age. Really, this is for daring djs. This is so distorted that it is hard to sit through, and the production’s uber-lo-fi approach does not help the sound, either. 12 tracks come in under 30 minutes; these are short bursts of distorted noise for kids who live for the weekend. No FCCs detected.
1. Blippy electronics, vocals and everything is way the fuck distorted, noisy, dissonant. Vocals strain out of range; ends in a clipping mess of noise. (3:21)
2. Sort of punky? There may be some catchy music underneath the ridiculous levels of distortion. (1:29)
*3. Thundering, noisy percussion and somewhat melodic instrumentation in there, vocals are somewhat straightforward, of course, beneath waves of distortion.(2:28)
4. Sort of hard to tell what’s going on, really noisy lead instrument. (2:28)
5. Dissonant, something melodic in here. (1:54)
6. Maelstrom of noise, vocals are up in the mix, distorted guitars and electronics wash behind the vocals. Cuts out with 15 seconds left. (3:20)
*7. Guitars and drums are audible…droney melody; another song about parties. Interesting outro/solo thing. (2:38)
*8. This is actually a pop song. (2:12)
9. More percussion and noise returns. Dissonant romp, percussion sort of reminds me of Liars. (2:22)
10. Pumping percussion and rhythmic guitars are buried under the normal clipping, distortion. Surf rock? Maybe? (1:29)
*11. Pop structure to this one and an interesting solo/bridge. (2:58)
12. Similar to 1, blaring electronics but more reserved pop this time. Cuts out 15 seconds early, again. (3:09)
