Precinct / Stranger -- Reviewed by Mason
Just two guys messing around, laying down some simple rock and funk and making noise. Yelpy having-fun-rocking-out vocals. Nothing amazing but they have a good sense of groove.
No FCCs. Best tracks probably 4, 7, 11.
1. Spastically funky jam, angular synth stabs and vocal croaks / hiccups over funky bass and bongo-ish drums. 2. Basic 4-chord guitar & drums unpolished driving rock. 3. Synth noodling & electronic sound effects over relaxed drum machine/bongo groove. Quiet spacy music. 4. Honking amateurish sax and pretend-rock-star vocals over driving rock rhythm. Sounds like fun. 5. Rambling 2-chord jam with echo-laden guitar, pretty synth chords, and seemingly improvised singing. 6. Just a dude messing around with a bass while another guy messes around on some drums. At least it has a steady beat. 7. Fast exciting rock with exuberant sax and drums. 8. Lumbering dirgey guitar messing around with simple drumbeat. 9. Geez, these guys can be funky when they want to be. Pretty tight 3-chord dance number, very basic & repetitive. 10. Noise piece reminds me of Metal Machine Music plus someone going crazy on drums. 11. Rock with nice drum rhythm & good simple twangy guitar riff. 12. Noisy spazzy interlude. 13. 1-chord funk jam with bloopy synths and bass. 14. Noisy grind. 15. Trebly thunderstormy rock song. 16. Even looser version of track 1. 17. Primitive drum bashing and guitar strumming. 18. Funky strumming mostly. 19. Repetitive simple riff rock song. 20. Primitive funking around with progressively busier drums.
