Album Review
Alma Mahler
Reviewed 2010-05-10
Singer-songwriter, somber folk that hits on country and bluegrass. Fink has a beautiful voice and is joined by a number of other artists on this album (Andy LeMaster, Isaac Brock etc). Nice instrumentation – mandolin, banjo, slide guitar, accordion, saw… Really good! No FCCS. Try 2, 3, 5, 6

1) Melancholy guitar & voice 2) * Nice instrumentation – mandolin, banjo – and great male/female harmonies at chorus 3) * Great old-timey waltz 4) Haunting melody 5) * Beautiful folk tune, lyrics have spiritual overtones 6) * Sparse, dark folk 7) Upbeat country tune about finding salvation at home, in Alabama (who knew?) 8) Lovely fem vox harmonies 9) Banjo, accordion, the half-light 10) Short, sweet nice use of saw.
